🏢 About the Role
AT is seeking a strategic tax leader to join our Finance Department as Head of Tax & Finance Projects. In this critical role, you will drive our tax strategy, lead compliance efforts, and support finance projects across our operations. As a direct report to the CFO, you will play a vital role in shaping the organization’s tax direction, optimizing tax positions, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
🧩 Key Responsibilities
- Lead tax planning initiatives to optimize cash tax positions and the effective tax rate.
- Oversee company-wide tax audits, appeals, and litigation processes, aligning with compliance risk management strategies.
- Maintain detailed documentation on tax positions in accordance with IFRS and Ghana tax law.
- Ensure timely and accurate filings and payments for all taxes and levies.
- Identify personal and corporate tax savings opportunities and implement related mechanisms.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting for tax costs and cash flows.
- Conduct regular tax and levy health checks and report key findings to management.
- Implement and manage transfer pricing policies in line with JV objectives.
- Review contracts and accounting practices for tax compliance accuracy.
- Document and communicate tax risks and maintain a comprehensive tax risk register.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project and business plans with tax strategies.
- Manage insurance-related financial risk.
- Participate in stakeholder engagements and industry forums, contributing to national tax policy discussions.
🎓 Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Law, or related field.
- Membership in ICA/ACCA; CIT Ghana membership is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in tax, audit, finance, or a similar field.
- Strong knowledge of Ghanaian tax legislation and international tax treaties.
- Experience in project management, finance systems, and complex processes.
- Strong background in internal audit, risk analysis, revenue assurance, and compliance.
- Fluent in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of telecom and financial regulatory frameworks is advantageous.
