Project Manager – GIZ MOVE Project

📘 Project Overview

The MOVE (Market-Oriented Value Chains for Jobs and Growth in the ECOWAS Region) project aims to strengthen cashew and rice value chains to boost job creation and income in West Africa. Key partners include ECOWAS, BMZ, the European Union, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project operates across Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria.

🛠️ Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of sub-projects (e.g., Rice and Maize Value Chains in Burkina Faso)
  • Manage team members assigned to relevant sub-projects
  • Liaise with stakeholders including commissioning parties, government entities, and political actors
  • Develop operations plans, manage budgets, and oversee contractors
  • Ensure sustainable project results and systematic monitoring of impact
  • Implement audit-compliant, cost-efficient, and result-oriented project practices
  • Digitize management processes (e.g., developing databases for staff, contracts, and subprojects)
  • Design and implement organizational development plans for MOVE partners
  • Organize audits and evaluations and integrate learnings into strategic adjustments
  • Identify and achieve synergies with other development interventions and funding partners

🧠 Requirements

  • Master’s degree in agronomy, rural development, economics, financial management, or related fields
  • 5–10 years’ experience in organizational development and/or policy advisory roles
  • Minimum of 5 years in leadership or managerial roles
  • Experience in internal control or auditing is an asset
  • Prior experience with GIZ systems, offices, and compliance preferred
  • Fluent in English and French (spoken and written)
  • Strong skills in MS Office and digital project tools
  • Ability to travel regularly to Burkina Faso and other project sites
